A favoured method of detection by many unions and employees is the saliva test (also called an oral fluid or a mouth Swab Test).
It’s a form of Drug Test that’s easy to administer and cost-effective. A commonly cited reason for its popularity is that its limited detection capability (which only extends to very recent drug exposure), contrasts with traditional tests which can detect a history of drug use that reaches far back into many months.

Simple to use, the sample collection process is very easy. For example, whilst there are a variety of modalities that can be used to conduct a saliva test, all involve the simple procedure of placing an absorbent swab in the mouth of the donor. After the saliva is collected, the contents of the swab are analysed by the drug detection technology and then assessed by the testing practitioner for evidence of drug use. “Presumptive positive” tests are then sent away to an accredited laboratory for confirmatory testing.
